I’m sure no one is surprised by now that I am giving five stars to yet another Nghi Vo title, least of all me. The Brides of High Hill puts a twist on the typical series format as Cleric Chih becomes the protagonist of their own story rather than the one recording it. Dripping with gothic beauty, full of dread and fascinating twists and turns, and lightly brushed with romance, this novella proves a worthy continuation of The Singing Hills Cycle and is one of my favourite series.
