Although dark, I found this book to be manageable. There are some very dark things that happen, but were written about in a way that didn’t make me feel, personally, like I was traversing the difficult emotional landscape with the character. This book had three different timelines for three generations of women, although one generation was focused on the most. I read through this book pretty quickly and never felt as though it was dragging on unnecessarily. The author really kept me guessing and wondering through the whole book.
Moderate: Child death
Minor: Suicide
