Damn it, Stephen King, I wanted a horror story, not a heartfelt book that makes me cry at the ending. I have said it before, and I will say it again--King's best work is his non-horror work. I love the setting and just vibing with the carnival atmosphere through most of the book. While not what I consider horror (it has some horror and thriller elements, but those aren't the primary focus of the book), it still has Stephen King's style of prose and dialogue that people either love or hate. I, for one, love it. The book is also a fairly breezy read compared to his more prolific works that could break your toes if dropped on your foot, so those looking to dip their toes in King's work might want to check this one out.
