Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

4.0

“we cannot spend our lives in hiding, wondering what we might accomplish if given the chance. we have to take that chance ourselves.”

Despite my love for Leigh Bardugo, I really wasn’t expecting that I would enjoy this as much as I did. Wonder Woman: Warbringer ended up to be such a surprising read for me. It’s silly of me to have ever doubted Leigh Bardugo on this, and looking back now I don’t even remember anymore why I thought I wouldn’t like it. Although I will say that it had such a slow beginning (and sometimes a little confusing— but I do think this is because I haven’t read the comics or finished the movie), but all of the factors that makes me love Bardugo’s books are still there! Outstanding characterization, thrilling plot, fantastic writing, action-packed scenes, even hilarious scenes that literally made me lmao. But not only that— we also get a diverse set of characters!

Anyway, that fucking plot twist though???? Who knew that was going to happen??? Because I certainly did not! I’ve seen this love-interest-is-actually-the-traitor trope a bunch of times in books but I always fail to see the signs!!! It’s aggravating!!!! Although I’m pretty sure it was also because Leigh Bardugo hid that twist really well because she is, duh, THE Leigh Bardugo and she knows exactly how to fuck with us.

Leigh Bardugo is really up in her game and I would always, ALWAYS be such a huge fan of hers!
