What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge

2.0

This was bizarre.

The beginning, when Katy was naughty and petulant was mildly entertaining. Reading about the scrapes and trouble she got into was far more interesting than the latter half.

She turned from a spirited, bossy and headstrong child into a cloying, sappy, righteous saint. It was a bit nauseating towards the end.

The less-than-subtle religious overtones were irritating as well.

I’m not sure what this is trying to teach kids; perhaps the message is “be good or else”? Seems a bit heavy handed.

Definitely not a “must-read” by any stretch... totally missable and ultimately, forgettable.
