Marie Stuart by Stefan Zweig

Did not finish book. Stopped at 30%.
Perfect example I think of ´men writing about women’. Marie Stuart is my favorite historical figure as I love all the depth and complexity within her character and life’s choices. However, Zweig makes us feel as she was completely naive and unqualified, whilst reminding us every other page that her step-brother would have been a better fit to the Scottish throne. His opinion might be valid, but I couldn’t put up with all the dismissing comments towards Marie Stuart, sometimes making me wonder if he wasn’t simply reproaching her for being a woman.
