I have seen reviews for this book on goodreads and I don't understand why it got quite a few one star reviews. A lot of people said it was because the information about the holocaust was 'inacuarate'. Personally, I don't see this as a major issue. It was a very sad, moving read that is set in WW2. It is in a third-person perspective, but mostly it focuses on bruno's (main character) thoughts.
This book focuses on a forbidden friendship between a Jewish boy, Shmuel, and a German boy, Bruno, whose father is a soldier at the camp where Shmuel is located.
Bruno has no idea who the Jews are and what really happens behind the fence. He doesn't know anything about what his father does and he thinks his father is a wonderful man.
I think this book is amazing because although it is fiction, it reminds us what really happened when hitler rose to power.
I would suggest this book to anyone who really wants a book that will move them.
