This is a masterful story. It doesn't go anywhere you expect it to, and it has incredibly deft commentary on marriage, weddings, identity, and grief, and being an active participant in your own life. The exploration of radical honesty and artifice is fascinating, and I found this life-affirming even though it's easy to get frustrated with the characters (which is probably the point). The setting is dramatic and almost a character in itself, and the story left me feeling so full and thoughtful. It's also really funny and absolutely flies by with the absurdity and poignant moments of connection. People are raving about this book, and rightfully so.
Graphic: Miscarriage, Suicidal thoughts, Grief, Suicide attempt
Moderate: Animal death, Cancer, Drug use, Infidelity, Misogyny, Sexual content, Terminal illness, Blood, Classism, Pandemic/Epidemic
