Very delightful. Lots of "meta" references to fairy tales and other fantasy series (like "crunchings and munchings" from Lloyd Alexander's Prydain series among many others). It doesn't take itself too seriously, but is respectful of source material. Some fairly serious political/social issues are touched upon (as in, is a hereditary royal person necessarily the best person to rule a kingdom). I enjoyed it a lot, and hope that perhaps there may be more in the series.
