Beautiful book. But a story that I just hate. A child giving up their voice to be with a person they've never met or spoke to. Just the worst message. Not romantic. Not endearing. Not charming. Just terrible.
That of course is not the fault of this book. And this is a beautiful representation of the story. Heartbreaking and sad as it is.
Would I recommend it? No, probably not. It's not a unique take on the story. The Red Shoes is a better representation of the authors.
