sonofachipwich 's review for:
Exordia
by Seth Dickinson
I was so taken with the first part of this book and the fish out of water existential alien buddy comedy it was shaping up to be, and then it became a military technothriller and and I was much less interested. It sustained me through the sagging middle with good old fashioned Dickinson stylistic stuff which I enjoy so much, and got me back a bit by the end because the weird Kill Six Billion Demons metaphysical stuff came back into view, but this just isn't the book I wanted it to be. Still, I can't help but like a book that contains the words "nerve angel," "Cultratic operancy," and "graser beam" and manages to make all of them feel earned.
