Can't Take That Away by Steven Salvatore

4.0

Carey is gender queer, the people closet to him understand and support him, he deals with a bully of a teacher and a classmate. The classmate is is problematic on many levels , in that he also feels entitled to feelings from female classmates just because he likes them. Throughout this book Carey is finding his voice and many different ways. He is figuring out how to stand up for himself, how to share his feelings with his friends and literally getting his voice back to sing in the school musical.
