The Birds by Daphne du Maurier

5.0

A stellar full-cast production with immersive audio effects and music. While Daphne du Maurier's short story of a family and town (and country and possibly the entire world) beset by countless birds provided the inspiration for Hitchcock's film adaptation, they are not identical stories. It's kind of more fun in that both stories focus on different survivors within the same world. Read or listen (it's a quick hour) to du Maurier's tale of a family struggling in post-war England before or after Hitchcock's version starring Tippi Hedren as a woman on a lark gone awry. You'll be glad you did!
