What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton
5.0

I wasn't planning on reading this. Obviously a person's biases toward Hillary Clinton will color even honest reviews by people who read the book, let alone those reviews done by trolls who haven't read and won't read it. I went into the reading of it asking myself what it was like to be the person who lost the 2016 election that left so many, including myself, feeling raw and confused. And the book answered my questions. That's what memoir is for- to offer a person's own story, I'm pretty sure. The truth is Hillary doesn't have a specific answer as to what happened, as no one does. Maybe that's because an election in a country as populous, diverse, and complex as the United States is actually pretty complicated. (Anyone who says they have a specific solution or path to victory that she should have taken can comfort themselves with never having to be proven wrong.)

I think it was actually pretty funny, and I enjoyed the quotations and chance to see which thinkers inspire Hillary, and to hear her talk about dealing with defeat and embarrassment. I admire her so much, which is something I probably would not have said before the year 2014. "Keep going."
