Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick

1.0

A Prayer for Owen Meany for the younger crowd.

A young man I tutor has been ranting and raving about this book, and he had a copy laying around. It's a very, very short read. He said even with the audiobook that he listened to in class, they can cover 40 pages in an hour. I read it all at once in pretty much an hour. It isn't terrible. It's just very predictable. It wasn't my kind of book. I couldn't connect with it. I felt like it was trying too hard to be emotionally evocative but lacked the depth to do so.
