The Hollow Ones by Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan
3.0

Though I enjoyed the interesting nature of Hugo Blackwood, his associates, and his quest, I had big issues with how this book was written. Odessa is completely cardboard; I genuinely do not give a shit about her, she's such a Mary Jane. Which is a shame, because all of the male characters around her - Blackwood, Solomon, Joachim, Mr. Lusk - are interesting in their own unique ways. The writing in a lot of this book was very clunky, as well - I felt like I was just being told the details, instead of actually experiencing them. Not sure if I'll read the others.
