No One is Talking About This is a contemporary satire with an experimental style, and while Patricia Lockwood does a number of thing’s undoubtedly well, this book missed the mark for me. It was certainly thought provoking and achieved the feat of being both laugh out loud funny and tear jerkingly devastating, but the narrative fell flat for me. I give Lockwood points for trying something new, but the book felt much more like poetry than novel, and by that I mean the writing felt cryptic and pretentious. Glad I tried it, glad it’s out there, but didn’t love it.
