Last Sacrifice
by Richelle Mead
This series is very well written and the plot points are evident from book one. The character development is insane and the writing is very well done for its time. BUT. That fucking relationship plot nearly killed me
I understand using this huge “will they get together?” Plot to create suspense, but in doing this, Mead put Roses development in jeopardy. I bet there is not one person who liked the way rose treated Adrian. She emotionally cheated on him and then physically cheated on him. It was very obvious their relationship would never survive and I can bet you that mead just wanted to re-create that forbidden love troupe. The problem with this is that we all like Adrian and having rose do him dirty just really puts a hole in our love for rose. Plus, Adrian and rose would have never survived anyway, since it is nailed into our heads since book one that moori (still cant spell it) don’t marry or have serious relationships dhampiers. So wtf??
Rose is an awesome character and develops wonderfully (though the hate for moori and human relationships was so frustrating and felt racist, though I think that’s what mead was going for) and I really did appreciate this growth (cheating non-withstanding) aswell as all of the characters.
I liked dimitris growth, and the way he felt with his trauma, he didn’t want to hurt anyone so he kept them at a distance, which I find suits his personality very well.
The plot ending nicely, with Lissa becoming queen, though a bit unrealistic, since she wants to pursue college.
All in all, this is a great series, it’s fast paced and fun. But I really wish that this cheating scandal never happened. We didn’t need it. The suspense was always there and I would have actually enjoyed the sexual tension between dimitri and rose, but as it was written I just felt guilty even reading it. WE DONT LIKE CHEATING HERE
but still a good story
