An interesting historical fiction book set post-WWII that follows Cat, a Chinese-American woman, from childhood up through late adulthood as she learns about math, family, and identity. I found her relationships with the other characters interesting even if I thought most of them were a bit flat. I always like character studies and stories that follow a character throughout their life, so it certainly wasn’t all bad. Though, the pacing did seem pretty weird at times — it’s like the story didn’t know if it wanted to speed up or lag about.
