The Family Experiment by John Marrs

4.0

Time to start a new bookshelf titled "Is This a Black Mirror Episode?" because of all the recent books I've been reading that have felt like a (literary) episode of the show, including this book. I loved all the cliffhangers of the short chapters here, but I definitely got a bit lost with all the different characters. None of the characters felt particularly deep but the drama surrounding each of them was so compelling. I thought it would be more about their MetaChildren but it was actually more centered on the parents and the circumstances surrounding them (which I liked). This book feels so timely cause I swear I see AI mentioned everywhere and with the current obsession of reality tv, this all felt totally realistic to me. 4 stars because I had no idea the direction this story was going and really enjoyed where it went and all the concepts in it!
