Full disclosure... my OCD doesn't allow me to skip any book in a series. Even the novellas that aren't necessary to the storyline itself. This was my thought process going into this novella... "It's only 50 pages and I have to get it over with". HOWEVER, I am so glad I ended up reading it!

This novella follows Lev after he leaves CY-FY with his parents and the juvie cops (about 1/3 of the way into UNWIND). Lev finds himself at a Native American reservation, where Unwinding is illegal and AWOLs are protected. There he meets Wil. A character, that in my opinion, deserved such a bigger role in this series! Lev quickly is adopted into the rituals and beliefs of the tribe. He begins to plant his roots with this new found family. But of course, life is never easy for an AWOL.
What circumstances leads Lev to the Graveyard after? WHAT MADE HIM BECOME A CLAPPER?

No, this book is not required to continue this series. Yes, it is extremely short and doesn't hold much valuable content. BUT once you start reading Unwholly, you catch a very small detail about Cam that gives you all sorts of feels! That small detail was definitely worth it! Not to mention, the first book leaves a lot of questions as to why Lev became a clapper in the first place! This adds to the dimensions of his story!
