Emma by Jane Austen

4.0

“if i loved you less, i might be able to talk about it more.”

another perfect example of austen’s gorgeous writing and her clever, clever wit. i really enjoyed the romantic aspect of this book, though i can’t help but feel for poor harriet. she really catches the short straw until the end of the novel. i also enjoyed emma’s character development, and the fact that she wasn’t an angel, a mary-sue; she was different, she had flaws, she had moments were you wanted to scream at her. that was refreshing.

my only wish would be for more plot, at times some of the writing felt… not empty, but a little slow, and i would’ve liked more fuel, but i do think this is such a good novel and one of austen’s greatest works.
