Spoilers below. Also do not read if you’ve been through miscarriages, stillbirth or losses.
The rating is personal because of how the idea of infertility and miscarriages is handled in this book.
I liked the idea of the dreams and her trying to find out what is real or not. The wife having faked the pregnancies and losses was just too much. As someone who has been through infertility, miscarriages, losses and PPD, the way this is all handled in this book is woefully un knowledgeable at best and hurtful and triggering at worst.
Yeah it was a quick read and had good twists and guessing but the idea that someone would just pretend to have losses to keep a man…. As someone who has been through losses for real…. It’s not something to joke about/fictionalize.
Authors: Infertility, loss, stillbirth and miscarriage are not plot points. They are life altering, horrible experiences that no one asks to go through.
