The Giving Tree
by Shel Silverstein
I had long heard about this book, it rests in the periphery of adult life. Every adult seems to have read it and have fond memories. It has far-reaching influences. Slightly poetic, immensely profound. As a modern-day product of my time, I see not only the environmental element but also elements of female self-sacrifice and constant devotion. I enjoyed it. Brief, well-written, and refreshing. Enlightened and insightful without being too preachy.
