I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
POV: dual 1st person POV
spice: several open-door spicy scenes
TWs: alcoholism, abusive parent, homophobia, broken engagement, death of a parent (cancer, recounted), homelessness
standalone: yes
final thoughts: I love when an LBGT+ story doesn’t have homophobia as the main focal point of the plot. Though since Josh has stayed closeted and engaged in a fake relationship that isn’t fully true but it moved the plot along where it needed to go. The side characters in this book were wonderful, including the fiancée who was sidelined only a month before their wedding.
Here’s some things I really enjoyed about this book:
•I love a dual 1st person POV romance where we get to see both MCs pining for each other 😍
•I’m glad Coop made Josh work for it a bit since he broke his heart 10 years ago
•If there’s a third act breakup there better be a grand gesture and this one was perfect for the boys
• Almost every side character in this small town was wonderful
• There was no cheating!! Even though Josh was engaged when he ran back into his childhood love, he didn’t act on his desires until the engagement was broken
