Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar
by Cheryl Strayed
Wow. Thanks, Julia, for putting this on your list. Otherwise, I might never have found it. This book is a compliation of letters and responses from the "Dear Sugar" online advice column. Reading this book, I felt like I was torn open and healed and held. The letters are raw and vulnerable and Sugar responds with such honesty and tenderness, balanced out with fairness and realism. It is just amazing. Her thougths on love and grief were like a punch in the gut. She has great insight into so many things, but doesn't pretend to be an expert on anything. I think it is just that she is a really good listener - if it is possible to "listen" in the context of the written word. It is really quite incredible.
