The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
5.0
I picked this up after hearing about it on the "What's making us happy" segment of a recent Pop Culture Happy Hour episode. So glad I did. Not many books have made it onto my "Heart stealers" list this year, but this one did.
This is not a narrative-driven book. Events that would drive other stories - adoptions, romantic relationships (weddings/divorces), injuries, sickness - these are things that are passed by in lieu of exploring the moments between more dramatic life events. It made me laugh out loud multiple times. The short story summaries that frame the chapters are beautiful and become more so as you realize their purpose.
In short, I loved it. You should read it.
6/7/17 UPDATE: Fixed the grammar of this review since I wrote it in a hurry.
