I love a good fairy tale retelling, and for the most part I found this one really enjoyable. I did think the ending felt a bit dragged out, but that was a minor complaint by comparison to how much I liked the book overall. I was especially intrigued by Falada and, without giving too much away, the origin story surrounding him. I felt like I was living within the setting as I read, and I love when authors have the ability to do that. I look forward to reading more of T. Kingfisher's books in the future!
