jesslindgren 's review for:
The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts
by Gary Chapman
I'm hardly the first reviewer to note that there are some outdated and sexist examples in these pages. The perspective from which this book was written made it difficult for me personally to take in, but it was first written in 1990, and reviews show it has helped thousands of people, so, to each their own.
That being said, I think the core concept is fantastic. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in deepening their relationships (and learning more about their own role in relationships) should take the author's free quiz, and then invest time into an analysis by someone whose content creation style you like or relate to. There are countless examples available online, and innumerable ways to interpret and implement the concepts that are more modern and inclusive.
