The Wells Bequest
by Polly Shulman
The story was well paced and expanded on the world created in the first book of the Grimm Legacy series, which centres on a library that keeps objects from fiction. Such a great concept and so many directions a person could go off in from that basic precept. Although this is nominally a sequel, it stands on its own and would work well in Gr 5- 8 classrooms. (There's a budding romance, but nothing that strikes uncomfortable ground. ) Because of it's fascination with early sci-fi, this book makes a nice introduction to some of Wells novels or short stories, as well as the history of science.
