Murder Mindfully by Karsten Dusse

2.0

An interesting idea and twist on a classic mob lawyer story. I thought it was very funny at parts and would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if it wasn’t for the persistent misogyny. No female character escapes it except for the main character’s 5 year old daughter. Every woman he comes across is either his scornful and bitter wife, a scornful and bitter receptionist, a stupid trainee, or a prostitute (which is obviously not an issue in and of itself, but given the way, but the sex workers exist only to be beaten and used by a ‘brutal pimp.’)
I read this as a library book and it was very quick/easy read which is why I finished it instead of DNFing. It is very disappointing as I generally enjoyed the rest of the book and would’ve otherwise recommended it.
