Bad Sister by Charise Mericle Harper

3.0

Needed to break up my sadness books (pandemics! Cannibalism! Starvation! Abandonment!....I picked some winners here) with a bit of light graphic novel fun.
I liked the illustrations and I’m always a fan of a memoir. I felt that Harper was way too hard on herself. She was a kid, she made mistakes, she should not have been responsible for her brother so much. I don’t know why her parents continued to assign her that responsibility and then get mad at her. I guess this was over many years but still.....
I hope that Harper has been able to overcome these feelings and forgive herself. Maybe this graphic novel is her way of doing that.
