The Art of Travel by Alain de Botton

inspiring slow-paced

2.75

The book had a few interesting points in the first half, but the writing quickly became painstakingly pretentious. I tried to visualize the environments and situations through the descriptions, but eventually gave up—it became unbearably dull. I found myself forcing the reading experience until I finally stopped around 80% through. Another critique: it feels dated and lacks the quality of timelessness one might expect from a book on travel.
