His Very Best: Jimmy Carter, a Life by Jonathan Alter

4.0

Perhaps it was the title, which I learned the history of within the book, but I expected this book to be a somewhat revisionist biography of a president whose place in history is still not yet entirely clear. I was pleasantly surprised that this book pulls no punches. Instead, it presents a picture of the former president as a complex man -- perhaps surprisingly so given the current highly-polarized political environment.
