A poignant and timely novella. The book contrasts well the personal story of asylum seekers against our collective apathy and emotional detachment. There's a lot of self-reflection and inner monologue versus plot, especially in part 3. This is a book written to make you think and feel, and not necessarily tell a complete story which I'm less of a fan of.
Small Boat made me feel a lot of complicated emotion; especially knowing this fictional account of a true story plays out in reality every day.
