This was an interesting take on a hades/Persephone retelling and I have very mixed feelings. On one hand it was a nice mix up to have it be modern but on the other hand I didn't really see the point in naming the characters after the Greek gods when they're human. It feels like the author was leaning a little on having the pre-made mythology set everyones expectations so there was less work to establish characters and relationships. Also I guess it was to really drive home that it was a hades/Persephone retelling.
There were also weird dialogue choices occasionally where the characters would suddenly speak with a more southern vernacular but it was inconsistent and just seemed out of place. Perhaps the author was trying to depict code switching but I don't think it was particularly successful.
All that being said there was a lot of things I did enjoy. I thought the sex scenes were very well written and I enjoyed the characters themselves. The representation was also well done.
