Wow. What a difference. WILDLY better than the previous novella (The Earl in Winter by Kathryn Le Veque), the connection between the two MMCs is minimal at best, despite the fact that they are brothers. It's like how they wrote Multiverse of Madness without watching Wandavision- there are a few mentions of characters from the other story but they don't align in any way. This is a lovely ghost romance with an HEA I saw coming but worked decently all the same. Both of these were weirdly anti-Scottish though, which seemed like a choice.
