This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub
5.0

Emma Straub captures the reality of grief and the complexities of family in such a beautiful way - I couldn't put it down.

This is an experience everybody goes through - losing someone and wondering if you have done enough, said enough, left things where you want to leave them, etc. Even though this is a story that has been told time and time again, Straub clearly poured her heart and soul into these characters, and it made the time old tale of grief and family feel completely new.

The time travel element is one of my favorite plot devices in fiction, and this particular novel felt like a welcome extension of About Time. There are many complaints about the ageless feline deity, Ursula, but I think any cat owner knows that a cat with no interest in dying, will live forever. I felt like Ursula's eternal youth was just as believable as time travel itself, so I didn't find it distracting.

There are so many things I loved about this book - I could go on and on and on. It is for sure one of my favorite reads of the year, and I know that I will pick it up over and over again.
