This is a book I never expected to pick up, but discovering this masterpiece among my other reads made it stand out, in the best possible way. It reminds me of The Stranger by Albert Camus, which makes it all the more intriguing, but this one is far more poetic and beautifully written, making its heavy themes feel worth exploring. The author’s notorious reputation also lends the story a unique perspective which casts an ominous shadow over the prose. I really liked it. It reminded me of the movie Inception, though with a darker and more twisted atmosphere.
