LIFEL1K3
by Jay Kristoff
3.5 stars
This was one of my anticipated releases of 2018 and I really wanted to love it, but alas.
I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. I think I'm getting a bit too old for the language Kristoff uses in this one. He has a very specific writing style and for me this works very well in Nevernight, but not so much in this one. I hear this kind of 'slang' every day from my pupils and I can't stand it with them either :-s
The story wasn't extremely original, but I did enjoy the characters a lot, especially Lemon and Cricket (who reminds me a lot of Iko from the Lunar Chronicles).
I'm not sure how I feel about the ending of the book. I'm probably going to continue with the series, but we'll see when the next one comes out next year.
