A cold moth with unusually dense dorsal tufts landed lightly on Rahel’s heart. Where its icy legs touched her, she got goosebumps. Six goosebumps on her careless heart.

A little less her Ammu loved her.

unlike sophie mol this book was not Loved from the Beginning - the narrative was a pain to follow but there is some reward in soldiering through. i need to acknowledge the compelling bits like the orangedrink lemondrink part that made me want to scratch my skin off, a few genuinely funny bits (who would think to compare nipples to a saint bernard’s eyes?), and some poignant bits (moth) but overall there is not much payoff. saw a goodreads review that said that the author just seemed to be “resisting simplicity” and i have to agree.
