The Darkest Lie
by Gena Showalter
IDGAF, I'm in the afterglow and I loved this.

These aren't literary masterpieces, but they effectively transport the reader to a well developed world and into stories with interesting characters, twists and turns that I enjoy, as much as I may be adverse to admitting it. These are the types of books that stay with me, that I daydream about, creating my own stories in pondering where the books will go next.
I love that the world persists, that each recurring main/side character (for the most part) gets their own story, giving me more time with them. It's the very reason I love BDB, Demonica, IAD, etc. Thus, my rating reflects that level of enjoyment, and that these books don't make me feel like I've wasted time, nor does it ever feel like I'm slogging through something just to finish it (it never drags for me, surprisingly). They're fun, they have action, plot surprises, humor, occasional depth (but not too much) and it doesn't rely purely on angst to create a story (which can't be overstated).
Also, fangirl that I'm now becoming, I love the IAD crossovers. Seeing references and glimpses of characters from another great series utterly delights me.
