well it started out as a 5 star, what a cool premise, how will people feel and think and behave if they know exactly when and how they're going to die? then it became a 4 star because the descriptions of the characters' boring every day lives became a little long. the ending then settled it as a 3 star for me then. i get why it ended the way it did,
i know that this book is about probability and reflections about life and death and the value of life and living your life to the fullest, but i wanted the premise to be true. i wanted for something unexplainable to have happened and to see how everyone deals with it and how determinism does its thing. i didn't want it to be a mental breakdown of someone who's good at guessing. i feel a little cheated because the premise made me think it was something it wasn't, read about a bunch of people's normal lives only to then come to the conclusion that nothing really happened.
tbh writing out this review made me land at 2.5 but i'm rounding it up because i still enjoyed reading a large part of the book while i still thought it's going to pay off. this really shouldn't be listed as a thriller or a mystery.
