The Lost Queen by Signe Pike

1.75

Well, I disliked every character. I especially didn’t like the lead female character who was too mature as a child and too immature as an adult. Furthermore, she (can’t be bothered to look up the spelling of her name) falls in love at first sight and then carries that love for 17 years despite no contact with her love and that is a trope that I can’t stand. The rest of the characters are poorly sketched—the good guys are handsome and strong or beautiful the bad guys are ugly and thin and none of them are given any sort of personal motivation in the story. Two stars is a tad too high, but that’s where I’m going to land because the author built an interesting world.
