In addition to the *lite* racism in this book about a white woman in Hong Kong making no effort to learn about Hong Kong and stay in her expat bubble, the character is so hard to empathize with.

Otherwise, the characters are all pretty unlikeable with brief moments where they make genuine, thought-provoking comments about vulnerability in relationships. You get to the end and feel as though our protagonist really hasn't grown and will continue to wreak havoc toward other people who really don't deserve it.

Mixed feelings on this.
