I liked the idea for this story, but I was so disappointed by the "telling" style of writing I couldn't enjoy the book. There were also a couple of major plot events that just happened, with no logical reason. The fire, for example - maybe I'm too much of a stickler, but it bothered me there was no explanation of why the fire started.
