The vibe is very similar with Shari Lapena's other book, Someone We Know, which was exactly what i was looking for. It's in a small town/suburb, about a mystery involving adultery, conflict between neighbors, and problematic children.
I really enjoyed reading this, i finished it in 2 days (that's fast for me). It's such a page turner. The first 60% reads like the crime series that i love, Vera, where the competent police team did everything they can to investigate this case, and the layers were peeled one by one. Very satisfying. The latter half took a turn, which didn't surprised me completely but still made me gasp. Honestly it involved one of my least favorite trope(psycho child) , but it gets the story to another level of tense.
