an enjoyable cozy fantasy adventure through an otherworldly japan. my favorite worlds were the black & white scroll and the origami land. i did wish the author spent more time on world building rather than rushing through a different concept every couple chapters.
there is a romance component which felt somewhat cliche, for example, the author reminds you at least 5 times that the male love interest has a silver streak in his hair. there is also one lightly sexual act described in the middle of the book which felt so out of place.
