This is a fun historical romance. MacLean's writing style brings in a lot of humour, especially in the dialogue that had me laughing. But she also manages to write a good emotional scene as well. Callie as a heroine is quite relatable and I enjoyed her character arc as she comes into her own throughout the story. Ralston was also a decent male lead with a lot of the tropes of a historical romance rake while not being too over the top. Overall this book doesn't take itself too seriously so it ends up being a fun romance.
