I guess the writer is skilled enough because I could not stop reading, and yet, I was left unsatisfied at the end.

I didn't mind having to suspend my disbelief for the main character's living situation. My issue with the story was all about the characters and resolution to the main conflict. Deanna is very much a tell don't show person. She has these sick fantasies but can't back it up in a fight. She makes irresponsible and impulsive decisions just to feel like the main character and that's why the ending is so bad and unbelievable. Jeremy (love interest) is absolutely useless. All you know about him is that he is good looking, hung up on Deanna, just as dumb, and while doing literally nothing but standing there, he managed to cure her, or at least, find a compromise.
